Jayce Smith Storm is the son of Beric Smith and a unknown mysterious woman. He grew up in the village of Snowshore In the Highlands. Jayce experiences a Magical Awakening at the age of 14, the first magical awakening in over 1,000 years. He is sought out by Rickard, the Black Knight on behalf of Grand Wizard Erobor Life to be trained as a Wizard. Jayce is trained by Erobor and becomes the first person to gain the title of Wizard in over 1,000 years. Jayce later becomes known as the Last Wizard as it is doubtful that another Sheena will be born, and the culture of Sheena and Wizards is at its end.

Appearance and Character

Jayce is 15 at the when his story begins. He was a kid known for his small stature and his quiet but quick witted nature. He has green eyes, Blonde hair which later develops White streaks.
He grows up as the son of the village smith in the town of Snowshore in the early 1300s AF. Jayce dreams at a young age of becoming a knight, hero or adventurer and to leave his village.
Jayce is left handed, nimble and dexterous and very intelligent due to his love of reading, especially of legends and myths. Jayce also possesses skills in a forge and with black smithing after growing up in his fathers blacksmith shop. Jayce is afraid of thunderstorms and has an admiration for Dragons.

History

Early Life

Born in 1310 AF at Snowshore, Jayce is the son and only child of Beric Smith and an unknown woman. He grew up in the village of Snowshore in the Highlands of the Mainland.
After the birth of Jayce, his mother disappeared, leaving him with his father to raise alone. From a young age Jayce would have dreams of Dragons, Battles, and Magic. Growing up Jayce would aspire to be a knight or hero, and imagined adventures. Jayce loved to read books from the village’s small library about Legends and Mythology as well as the History of the world. Jayce also apprenticed in his father’s blacksmith forge where he gained skills in smithing.

Abilities and Equipment

Skills

Jayce grew up as the son and apprentice to a blacksmith. There he gained skills in smithing and weapon, tool and armor crafting.
Jayce would play with wooden swords and train as a swordsman at a young age, however he only had bales of hay and trees to spar against. At age 14 while being escorted to Erobos, he was formally trained in swordplay and combat by Rickard the black knight who took him as an apprentice and squire while on the road. By the time he arrived in Erobos he was a very skilled fighter.

Magic

Jayce became the wizard apprentice of Erobor Life. After learning the basics of being a mage he was first trained in the ways of a Blue Mage. He mastered Blue Magic very quickly and then began studying Red Magic which he mastered a few years later after studying under the Land Mage, Garrick Land, who temporarily took residence in Erobos during his training. After mastering Red Magic Jayce officially became a Storm Mage. Jayce always struggled with Green Magic, however still has some limited ability with it.
Jayce’s Common Magic abilities give him the power to enchant objects, conjure simple objects, create shields of magic power to defend himself, dispel the magic of other mages, and manipulate and move objects from a distance. With Blue Magic, Jayce has the power to manipulate water and ice, create illusions, and manipulate the minds and memories of others. With Red Magic he can create and enhance his combat abilities and strength, reshape and move Stone, and control and manipulate fire. With both Blue and Red Magic at his disposal Jayce also has access to Storm Magic, allowing him to control lightning, and create and manipulate weather. With his limited ability of Green Magic, Jayce can control some plant life.

Equipment

Mage Robe

Jayce received his first Mage Robe after completing his Mage Exam in mastery of Blue Magic. He received his second robe in Red Magic after the completion of his second exam. As is tradition with wizards with masteries in multiple colors of magic, Jayce combined these two robes together and personalized his cloak to meet his desired look. Jayce’s robe has had the left sleeve removed, not only to free up his arm movements for combat, but also to help with the ability of casting spells. Jayce’s robe also has been shortened on one side to the knee, and has a lightning bolt cut into the seem of the tail to represent himself as a Storm Mage.

Storm Piercer

Used as the primary weapon of Jayce, Stormpiercer is a wizard staff handcrafted by Jayce during his training as a wizard, which has a shortsword fixed to the top end of the staff, making it into a glaive-like weapon. This allows Jayce to cast spells while also using his Spell Focus as a powerful weapon using his abilities with a sword. The blade of Skypiercer was forged by Jayce himself, with the remaining pieces of his original sword “Beric” after it was shattered in battle. The blade was also magically enhanced during forging to give it additional strength and special properties. Stormpiercer has the ability to conduct and store electricity from lightning spells, and can magically return to Jayce as he calls it. On the guard of the weapon are a Ruby and a Sapphire, the stones which represent the colors of Storm Magic. These stones make casting spells easier for Jayce as each of them provide him fountains to pull his magic from.

Jayce’s Library

Jayce’s spellbook is a leather bound tome which was made and given to him by Erobor. The covers are made of brown leather and engraved on the front are red and blue lightning bolts. After losing his spellbook once, Jayce now keeps his spellbook tethered to him with a chain made of Dragonsteel. Inside Jayce’s spellbook is a personal domain which contains a library of Jayce’s research and other magical literature. Jayce uses his spellbook to keep record of his spells, research, adventures, and other useful documentation.
